Going back to work after 10 months.

πŸ’œ ONE DAY AT A TIME πŸ’œ

Going back to work after 10 months has taught me one of the biggest lessons of my life , take it one day at a time.

I made the decision not to go back to truck driving. The 14 hour days, long hours and sometimes not even getting a proper lunch break just weren’t right for me anymore.

I had to accept that I needed to start looking after myself and my health.

Living with Cystic Fibrosis and Type 1 diabetes means I’m living with two serious conditions every single day. As hard as it was to accept, I knew I needed a job where I could have proper breaks, better start and finish times, and actually take care of myself.

So I went back to FIFO.

And only two months later, I’ve already become a Supervisor. ❀️

I’m now working a 7 days on / 7 days off roster, which not only gives me a better balance, but also gives me more time to put into something else that means so much to me growing my business.

I want to see my business reach the top, but not just for myself.

I want it to grow because the bigger it becomes, the more people I can help.

Supporting the Cystic Fibrosis community is extremely important to me. When I was lying in a hospital bed going through some of the hardest moments of my life, that community supported me. Now I want to give back.

Through my business, I donate money to Cystic Fibrosis WA, helping support other people and families living with this illness. Every time my business grows, my ability to give back grows with it. πŸ’œ

Being away from my family for FIFO isn't always easy. But I remind myself:

This isn't forever. It's just for now.

Sometimes I look back and honestly can't believe how far I've come. My life hasn't been easy but that's a story for another post.

For now, I want anyone going through illness, setbacks or a massive change in their life to remember this:

It can be incredibly hard to accept that you're sick. It can be hard to accept that your life may need to change.

But being sick doesn't mean you have to stop dreaming.

It doesn't mean you can't build a career.

It doesn't mean you can't build a business.

And it definitely doesn't mean you have to give up on the life you want.

Your journey might look different from everyone else's and that's okay.

Keep following your dreams. Keep moving forward. And when everything feels overwhelming, don't try to conquer your whole future at once.

πŸ’œ Just take it one day at a time. πŸ’œ
